Having a regular showering or bathing regime is very important for maintaining good hygiene and preserving your health. Though showering can be the most relaxing part of your day, why not making it a supreme indulgence moment, a "me time" every day. This new episode of the Body Glow-Up mini-series dives into the products to add to your routine for the ultimate healthy-looking skin

Following a few simple grooming steps will help you unwind and improve the appearance of your skin. There are different products and tools available to use in the shower, like organic soaps, cleansing lotions, shower oils, loofahs, or body brushes.

Loofahs

Loofahs are big, fluffy, porous showering tools, good at lathering soap. Load the loofah by soaking it in warm water and add a quarter-sized quantity of body wash. Wash your body by gently rubbing the loofah onto the skin. Loofahs provide deep exfoliation and cleansing.

Exfoliation is the act of removing dead cells from the top layer of your skin, resulting in a smoother and healthier surface. Read our previous episode from the Body Glow-up mini-series to learn more about body exfoliation and how to do it right.

A good quality loofah has a soft texture that allows you to gently brush away the top layer of the skin without stripping it or causing unwanted irritation. Make sure you replace your loofahs every couple of weeks to prevent bacteria build-up. Also, if you have sensitive skin, use it 2-3 times per week.

Washcloths

You may prefer using a washcloth rather than a loofah because it is easier to clean. It also has the advantage of allowing you to access more parts of your body, such as your back, covering a larger area at once. It will last you forever since washcloths are made of natural materials, resistant and biodegradable.

Tip: Enjoy a luxurious spa experience at home by warming a washcloth and place it on your face. You can add 2-3 drops of essential oils to de-stress and unblock your sinuses.

Manual and Electric Body Brushes

Brushes may help exfoliate the skin and increase blood circulation. Dry brushing the skin is as easy as it sounds: sweeping a firm, bristled brush over the skin from toe to head. Skin brushing is popular in Ayurvedic medicine, but it has also been used to cleanse and beautify the skin in many cultures like the ancient Greeks and Japanese. Who doesn't want to look like a Goddess?

Electric brushes serve the same purpose, but they are more expensive, and you need a set of batteries or a charger before using them. Electric brushes provide deeper exfoliation and are easier to use compared to manual brushes. Silicone is the best material when it comes to electric brushes as it is gentler to the skin. It is an excellent choice for people who have sensitive or dry skin.

Body Konjac Sponges

Konjac sponges were invented in Asia from a porous root named konjac, grown by Japanese farmers. Konjac products are used from ancient times, especially on babies' skin because it is very gentle and non-drying. That is why it quickly became a must-have for people with sensitive skin prone to acne, rosacea, and eczema. It is milder than a body scrub, and it is the gentlest way to exfoliate your skin.

Cleansing Lotions and Showering Oils

Choosing the proper cleansing lotion or oil for your skin type is essential if you want healthy, radiant skin. If you like thicker textures that make a lot of foam, go for a cleansing lotion. If you have dry, sensitive skin, an oil will deeply hydrate and retain moisture into the skin. Being light and gentle, it is perfect for everyday use.

What ingredients you choose is also very important. I am a big fan of seaweed, argan or lavender, potent natural hydrating compounds that leave your skin feeling fresh, smooth, and radiant. If you want to feel invigorated, citrus scents like mandarin, orange or grapefruit will leave your body fully revitalised.

Shower gels enriched with natural, soothing ingredients will help you relieve all the tension after a busy day with therapeutic benefits for your body and mind. Our Green Angel seaweed bath and shower gel with four types of Irish seaweed and pure lavender, mandarin, and neroli essential oils adds a touch of luxury to your bathing regime.

Natural Soaps

Try an organic or homemade soap if you're into a more natural, sustainable lifestyle. Handmade soaps are less rough for the skin than commercially manufactured bars, and they typically use higher-quality fats and oils. You will quickly notice the texture differences, foam level and hydrating effect between natural soaps and commercial ones.

Also, organic products have non-synthetic ingredients such as plant-derived oils (almond, coconut, olive oil), natural fats like shea butter or natural dyes. Our Green Angel organic seaweed soap bar uses four types of hand-harvested Irish seaweed and coconut oil is gentle to the skin while also providing a light exfoliation through the sections of dried seaweed fronds.

You may think that the organic soap market won't give you too many choices but is very competitive. You will find a lot of small, passionate manufacturers that make a wide variety of products. Different shapes, colours and sizes are available. From classic peppermint to coffee, gingerbread, or honey, it is impossible not to find something you'll fall in love with.

Body Scrub

If baby-smooth skin is your goal, a body scrub is your best friend. It is very gentle, nourishing with a sugary consistency that leaves your skin moisturised hours after you finished the shower. Most scrubs are enriched with natural ingredients that smell divine and give you a healthy, natural glow. We have a complete guide exploring different products to use to exfoliate like a pro.
