The Monday Smoothie mini-series is created to motivate you to leave the bed in the morning and have a nutritious breakfast. Following and preparing our four healthy smoothie recipes will help you start the week pumped and full of energy. At the same time, you will be kick-starting the healthy habits of the week by fuelling your body with a meal packed with nutrients and vitamins.

So instead of hitting the snooze button on your alarm, try one of our smoothie recipes in the morning. We have selected four incredible smoothie recipes to suit all needs: the Deluxe Antioxidants Smoothie, Zero Calories Smoothie, Post-Workout Recovery Smoothie and Keto-Diet Friendly Smoothie.

What Do You Need:

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 1 cup of spinach

  • Ice cubes

  • 100g orange juice

  • 100g fresh cucumber

Serving recommendations: If you prefer to drink your smoothie super-cold, use frozen spinach and frozen bananas instead of fresh ones. The texture of your smoothie will be closer to an ice cream.

How to Make the Deluxe Antioxidants Smoothie?

Step 1: Peel the cucumber and banana and chop them roughly.

Step 2: Cut 2-3 oranges in half and squeeze the juice. Use a sieve to remove the fruit pulp and seeds before adding it to the blender recipient.

Step 3:  Wash the spinach leaves and add the ingredients to a blender.

Step 4: Blend for 2 minutes or until smooth. If the texture of the smoothie feels too heavy, add some water to make it easier to drink.

There are very few recipes that can be as good as the Deluxe Antioxidants Smoothie in terms of freshness. Deluxe Antioxidants Smoothie is my top choice for the warmer months to get energised and stimulated in the mornings.

What Are the Benefits of Drinking This Smoothie?

The Deluxe Antioxidants Smoothie is the perfect pick me up breakfast, and all the ingredients chosen contain powerful antioxidants. The smoothie is also rich in fibres, and you will feel full and energised until your next meal.

Ripe bananas are full of fibres and tend to slow down the digestion and keep the feeling of fulness for longer. Bananas contain essential vitamins such as potassium, calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron, folate, niacin, riboflavin, and B6. Potassium helps to regulate the heartbeat, the blood pressure and keeps the brain alert. Bananas are full of antioxidants which can protect you from the free radicals you are in contact daily and improve overall workout performance.

Spinach is full in vitamin A, C and K and also contains magnesium, iron and manganese. Being rich in antioxidants, spinach can help fight oxidative stress and help maintain the health of your eyes.

Fresh orange juice is high in antioxidants and vitamin C and helps decrease inflammation. The vitamin C plays an essential role in strengthening your immune system. Studies show that drinking fresh orange juice can help prevent the formation of kidney stones.

Cucumber is a magic vegetable as it is low in calories but high in nutrients. Cucumbers are high in fibres and help support a healthy gut and bowel movement regularity. Cucumbers are filling vegetables, and you will feel full for longer.

How Many Calories Are in the Deluxe Antioxidants Smoothie?

The smoothie is just under 200 calories, and if you feel like reducing the caloric intake further, replace the orange juice with some cold water.

The calories below are an estimation and can vary based on your ingredients and quantities.

  • 1 medium banana  105 calories

  • 1 cup of spinach  23 calories

  • 100g fresh orange juice  45 calories

  • 100g fresh cucumber  16 calories

Total calories ≈ 189

We recommend serving the Deluxe Antioxidants Smoothie in a tall glass and decorating it with a thin slice of cucumber to make it Instagram friendly. Don't forget to tag us #DHMondaySmoothie! In the next episode of the Monday Smoothie mini-series, we prepare a green smoothie with "zero" calories.
