What Do You Need:

  • Ice cubes

  • Cold water

  • 1 cup kale

  • 100g cucumber

  • 1 cup spinach

  • 1 cup chopped celery

Serving recommendation: Pour your smoothie in a highball glass and add some extra ice cubes for freshness. You can decorate your smoothie with a celery stick or a slice of cucumber.

How to Make the Zero Calories Smoothie?

Step 1: Scrunch your kale leaves briefly in your hands to make them softer and easier to digest.

Step 2: Then roughly chop the cucumber and celery.

Step 3: Add 100ml of cold water and ice cubes in a blender together with your kale and spinach. Add your chopped cucumber and celery.

Step 4: Blend for 2-3 minutes or until smooth. Check if you are happy with the thickness of the smoothie, and add some more cold water if you prefer a thinner consistency.

Step 5: For a silky smooth consistency strain the smoothie through a sieve.

Taking care of my body from the first hours of the morning with the Zero Calories Smoothie gives me a boost of confidence!

What Are the Benefits of Drinking the Zero Calories Smoothie?

The “Zero” Calories Smoothie is great for staying hydrated and feeling full, without adding to your caloric intake. The powerful nutrients in kale and spinach will energise you, while the cucumber will keep the hunger at bay.

Kale’s richness in fibre helps maintain a healthy digestive tract. The antioxidants will help the body eliminate the toxins accumulated in the organism from natural processes and environmentally pressures. The beta-carotene found in kale will be converted into vitamin A by the human body. Vitamin A is used for the growth and maintenance of all body tissues, including hair and skin.

Celery is rich in vitamins and minerals and has an alkalising effect on acidic foods. Celery has a low glycemic index which means you will not have spikes in your blood sugar. Vitamins A, K and C plus minerals like potassium and folate will keep your body healthy. One cup of celery sticks has approximately 5 grams of fibre and will help your entire digestive tract. Eating celery has anti-inflammatory properties and strengthens the lining of your stomach.

Spinach is an excellent source of vitamins and antioxidants necessary for essential bodily functions. Eating spinach will help restore energy, increase vitality and improve the quality of the blood.

Cucumber provides the organism with essential nutrients while low in calories, fat, cholesterol and sodium. As it is 95% water, it helps prevent dehydration after a workout or during warm weather. Cucumber contains calcium and vitamin K, which facilitates the absorption of calcium by the organism. Together, these nutrients can maintain good bone health.
